Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) is the training most people need before they can serve or sell alcohol in Australia. It covers how to serve alcohol safely and within the law.
Who needs an RSA?
Generally, anyone working where alcohol is served or sold — pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants, cafés and bottle shops. Requirements vary by state, so check what applies where you'll be working.
What does it cover?

- Refusing service safely and legally
- Your responsibilities under state liquor law
- Handling difficult situations and recording incidents
How long does it take?
Done online and self-paced, most people finish in under four hours.
